Bio

It started in the car, beatboxing with his mom. Then came the recorder, the guitar, the slide trombone: if it makes a sound, Iggy can play it. In 2002 the San Antonio underground rave scene pulled him in, and he's been DJing and spinning fire ever since: twenty-four years of blending the primal element of fire with the driving energy of electronic music.

Bass has always been at the center. Metallica's Cliff Burton, Les Claypool and Flea showed him what a bass can really do. His first rave opened the door to house, then electro house, then dubstep, and to synthetic vibrations that shake you to your core. You can hear it in the heart-pounding bass under every Ignis Initium track.

Then came family court. It was killing him. He lost time with his children and had to keep fighting for them, and his turntables sat collecting dust. One day he pulled them out and started playing again, and it pulled him out of the darkness. Music made life feel like it was worth living again. So he took all that suffering and started writing.

When he shared that court house music with friends who were going through family court too, it hit hard. It put what they were all living through into lyrics, and it spoke to how things could get resolved. That became Court House: court-inspired lyrics, bagpipe leads and heart-pounding bass that fill a dance floor while helping people understand what so many families are going through.

Ignis Initium still believes what court taught him: no parent should have to fight for their children. The System told him to fight harder. Iggy asks: why does he have to fight at all? The music gave him a new mission: real change, for his own children and for all children. Listeners say it's inspirational and gives them hope. That's the point.

From massive festival stages to legendary club venues, his performance history spans the map: Blissfest, Dunesville, Farmfest, Harvest Fest and Rootennanny in Michigan, Camp Creek in New York, Fire and Ice in South Bend, Indiana, and Michigan's Manifest, plus San Antonio's Studio 210 and a massive 2026 performance at Club Infinity.

Beyond the stage, Ignis Initium is committed to the flow arts community. As an educator he hosts workshops and classes for every level, from first spins to advanced performance choreography to making custom poi.

Whether behind the decks, spinning fire under the stars, or turning the hardest chapter of his life into music, Ignis Initium remains the unstoppable force of Justice.
